Background:
This commemorative badge was established by the Third Reich Schlageter-Gedächtnis Bund e.V. on the 10th anniversary of the execution of Albert Leo Schlageter. This could be purchased by any Freikorps member along with the battle honor clasp(s) they were involved in. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed, chemically blackened and lacquered. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed Latin/Christian cross above a bordered “Schlageter” and two crossed broad swords that is surrounded by a half laurel and berry wreath, half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie. It also features a vertically soldered on rectangular plate pin assembly.
