Description
Dutch SS Volunteer Legion / Vrijwilligerslegioen Nederland memberbadge.
In used condition, the tip of the pin broken off. Priced accordingly.
Extremely rare and with less than a handfull pieces known in some of the biggest and oldest collections in the Netherlands very rare to find, also here in the Netherlands.
This is perhaps one of the least known dutch collaboration / Dutch SS badges. Collectors consensus tells that these were only in use on the first day of the recruitment of the Dutch Volunteer Legion. I added a few black and white screenshots and two digital images of early Legion posters that show the badge’s design in use. Most probably it was on order of the German authorities immediatly withdrawn, as the Dutch Volunteer Legion fell under German SS command. The only typical dutch insignia, Dutch Legion men were allowed to wear was the armshield. A very rare pin, in ANY condition. Note the way the collors run is slightly different to the posters.
From my own collection. I’ve had this pin for over 15 years and never was able to find another one. Priced according to condition.
