Description
This is the rarest of all period Carlsberg wallshields to find: the porcelain “NY Carlsberg Pilsner” shield. One of the – if not THE – earliest of all Carlsberg wallshiels that were made. It is entirely made of porcelain, which is of course very breakable and was later changed for materials that were less fragile like metal and wood shields.
Approximately 35,5 centimeters in diameter and 1 centimeters thick, very high quality.
The shield is undamaged and in as good as possible condition.
On the back someone made after WW2 a painting of a village with a church. The shield was at the pub were it was displayed then turned around to hide the swastika logo and then hung there for decades.
There are two holes on the upper side, through which went two screws with an iron “rope” for hanging.
The shield is approximately 100 years old.
The swastika on the shield was at the time used as a symbol of peace in the pre-war period. After the war the swastika was however for obvious reasons removed from the Carlsberg products. It makes it nowadays for a rare original collectable. I don’t ever expect to get one like this again, it’s extremely rare to find, especially in this undamaged condition.
